MY BACKGROUND

Running your own business is a dream for many people and often comes from a deep passion to deliver something unique; celebrating your skills and experience and delivered in the way that you want to do it.  But the journey is not easy and it takes a unique type of individual with a mindset that sets them apart. I know that growing the team can be a particularly challenging, but necessary, route to growth.  My role is to support business owners in the next stage of their business journey from individual to team. 

My approach is based on the belief that everyone has the right to flourish, whatever their aspirations. Everyone has their own set of strengths to be harnessed. There is always an element of amazing in people and I am passionate about creating workplaces in which everyone can flourish.

 

Being a business owner means overcoming significant challenges and I believe that small businesses can benefit from the support that managers in large organisations are given but in a way that is unique to them. They are strong and deserve a helping hand in the next phase of their business.

 

I provide a non-judgemental listening partner.  My approach is rooted in psychology, which means I draw from relevant theory and research to inform an approach that is likely to deliver impact. My starting point is always to understand what is happening now and what is need for the future in order to design a bespoke approach that is designed to specifically meet the needs of each business I work with.  My style is optimistic, sensitive, forward looking and empowering; finding the best that currently exist and developing solutions that enable people to flourish long after my engagement has ended.

Every business owner has come so far and achieved so much alone, it’s my vision to stand by their side and make the next stage in the journey a pleasure.

I have worked as a professional psychologist within sectors that include Defence, healthcare, housing and charities. My career began with leadership programmes for senior military leaders. I went on to work with teams, often with complex challenges, focusing on sustainable, rather than short-term, outcomes. I have worked at Board level, helping Executives address key people challenges; taking established evidence and using it in different ways to introduce new solutions to wicked problems.and to develop approaches to talent that will meet the future workforce needs of the organisation. Having worked in large organisations, I decided that I want to bring the resources available to them to smaller enterprises. 

I completed my BSc (Hons) at the University of Bath and my MSc in Occupational Psychology with Distinction at Cardiff University. I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Association of Business Psychologists (ABP). I have completed a European Mentoring and Coaching Council  (EMCC) accredited coaching course and have BPS Certificates of Competence in Occupational Testing (Level A and Full Level B) enabling me to use a range of psychometric ability and personality tools. I am also proud to hold the NTL Certificate in Organisation Development and am trained in a number of team and change methodologies, including Future Search and Appreciative Inquiry.
